Our Story

Normaltown Brewing Company was born from a deep passion for craft beer and a love of home-brewing.

Co-founder Phil Fortson started brewing in the 1990s, perfecting his craft over the years and earning medals in brewing competitions. Encouraged by his success, he decided to take the leap from hobbyist to professional, enlisting the help of his brother Scott, along with friends and family.

In February 2020, Normaltown Brewing Co. officially opened its doors. Though the timing was challenging—launching just before the world shut down—our community embraced us through to-go sales, keeping our dream alive. As the world reopened, our taproom at the Oneta Warehouses became a gathering place for craft beer lovers, building a loyal following.

During this time, Erich joined the team as an intern, quickly mastering the brewing process alongside Phil and becoming our full-time brewmaster. As demand grew, we recognized the need for expansion. When the Quonset Hut on Barber Street became available, we saw the perfect opportunity to take Normaltown to the next level. With a new brewing system capable of increasing our production 8–10 times over, we completed our buildout and proudly opened our doors in August/September 2024.

Through every challenge and milestone, one thing has remained the same—our commitment to brewing exceptional beer that’s anything but normal.
